In this blog I am describing the deployment of an ODA with the version 19.12
Following patches will be needed
-Patch 30403643: Oracle Database Appliance ISO Image
-Patch 30403673: Oracle Database Appliance Grid Infrastructure Clone for ODACLI/DCS stack
-Patch 33152232: Oracle Database Appliance Server Patch for ODACLI/DCS Stack
-Patch 30403662: Oracle Database Appliance Database Clone 19.12.0.0.210720 for ODACLI/DCS stack
The first step I did is image the server with the latest 19.12 image available.
Once logging with root on the ILOM we have to follow instructions. If not already changed the default ILOM credentials are

1.Open a browser and connect to Oracle Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM) on Node 0 as root.

2.Launch the Remote Console.

a. Expand Remote Control in the left navigation.
b. Click the Redirection tab.
c. Click Launch for the Remote Console in the Actions menu.
The state of the system determines what appears on the Console page.
3.Add the image.
-
a. Click the KVMS tab, then select Storage.
b. Click Add.
c. Browse to the Oracle Database Appliance Bare Metal ISO Image, highlight the image, then click Select.
d. Click Connect.
The mounting of the ISO image is successful when the Connect button changes to a Disconnect button.
e. Click OK
The CD-ROM icon in the top right corner is highlighted.
4.Configure the CD-ROM as the next boot device.

a. Expand Host Management in the left menu of the ILOM Remote Console tab.
b. Click Host Control.
c. Select CDROM from the Next Boot Device menu, then click Save.
5.Power cycle the node.

a. Click Power Control in the Host Management menu.
b. Select Power Cycle , then click Save.
The server will reboot and will begin the install
To check the progress of re-synchronization, press the ALT-F2 key combination to open a second console and enter the following command:
Once the new image available, we can now deploy the appliance.
We can verify the image version
After the reimage process, we can now configure the network. For this connect to the ILOM console and then connect to the ODA with root
root/welcome1 (default password) and execute the command

Below an example of output
Now we can access to our server via ssh using putty or another tool.
Before deploying the ODA, we must update the repository with GI and DB software. The downloaded software must be first copied physically to the server. For info I am only using 19c databases.
The following patches will be used in this part

First, we unpack the patches

Now that the repository is updated by required files, we can create the appliance using the web interface or using a generated json file.
To use the GUI connect with user oda-admin to your URL https://ODA_IP:7093/mgmt/index.html and create the appliance.
In my case I have generated the following json file. As you can see some info are hidden, but just replace by your values.

It seems that the precheck fails for the GI.After analysing the dcs log files we decide to ignore this error as the GI is already at the last version and then we apply the patch. I would like to thank here my colleaague Marc Wagner.

According this Oracle document
ODA Server Update Failed with Error DCS-10001 Failed Update Ilom Using USB (Doc ID 2733383.1)
We are facing to a firewall issue. And this was the case after verification. So we decide manually patch the ILOM.
We just follow this nice blog from Jerome
At the end of the process, we can validate that all components are up-to-date now.

And now we can remove the snapshots taken with odabar

Conclusion
Hope that the blog will help. What I want to add is that sometimes you can experience Failed prechecks, but you have to investigate the log files and decide if you can ignore these errors or no. You can find more info in the documentation
